The first coalition meeting for Bank On New Mexico is happening this month!  Monday, October 21, 9:30am – Noon.  You are welcome to join us to hear about the progress and next steps for our coalition.  Our guest speakers include New Mexico State Treasurer Laura Montoya, U.S. Bank Vice President and Branch Manager, Benjamin Gutierrez, and Chief Executive Officer of United Way of Southwest New Mexico, Amanda Morales.

Volunteers needed! Become a certified Internal Revenue Service (IRS) tax preparer!

Certified volunteers make it easy and safe for anyone using Tax Help New Mexico to file their taxes for free. Tax Help New Mexico is a free tax-filing resource for people whose household income is $65,000 or less or those who are 65 years or older.  Tax Help will guide and train all volunteers to become IRS-qualified tax preparers. All training and training materials are provided free of charge. 

Learn how to do your own taxes, and your family and friends’ taxes while also helping your community.  There are multiple locations available throughout New Mexico. Volunteer orientation sessions are in November with virtual training starting in December - sign up soon!

Our first financial institution roundtable was a success!  Thank you to the Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund (CFE Fund), the Credit Union Association of New Mexico (CUANM), Guadalupe Credit Union and Nusenda Credit Union for introducing CUANM members to the Bank On movement and answering questions about starting the process for having a Bank On certified account.  

Stay tuned for our next financial institution roundtable coming this November for all banks and credit unions interested in finding out more.  It will be a hybrid event!
